This year our essay is based around our personal philosophies, therefore our teacher told us to research into fashion designers philosophy’s.
I chose to look at Jeremy Scott, who is the designer at Moschino. I wasn’t a massive fan of his work because it’s not my style and the pop art style designs were too garish for my liking. This was until I discovered a film about Jeremy Scott on Netflix, this immediately interested me because I was getting an insight into his life and the film completely changed my opinion of him. I understood why he creates the pieces he does and this is why I like his philosophy on fashion ” put something out there with humour, let people see that and come around to it on their own. My job is to be a communicator”.
“I dont want to show clothes, I want to show my attitude, my past, present and future. I use memories and future visions and try to place them in todays world” Raf Simons
Raf Simons has always been one of my favourite designers and I was very disheartened when he left Dior, and is now the creativ director at Calvin Klein. His philosophy is very personal to him and the collections he creates will come from influences in his life, whether it be his favourite artists or his cultural background.
